Every moment is a teaching moment. We engage learning with simple and profound lessons. We protect America's Family when we remember her history.
There are some must have interactive books for your classroom iPad, these are also highly recommended for home. If you are going to have your kids hooked up to a device lets make sure their time is mind stretching rather than brainlessly sweeping through temple run (wait…it takes serious skill and effort for a gal like me to get a high score running through the jungle, sometimes beating by nieces and nephews high score is worth the no brainer). So here are what I feel are the best of the best books, where the words are always the star of the app.
“The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore” is THE MOST BEAUTIFUL interactive book and every iPad deserves to have it downloaded NOW! Read it to your class, yourself, your parents and grandparents, neighbors and friends. It brings all the enchantments of reading to life. You will laugh and cry and be inspired with a renewed love for words each time you experience this book. It is worth the $4.99. All ages.
“The Monster at the End of this Book” is a go to storybook for many of our early elementary grades. In this book you get to follow along as the monster reads to you. Kids love to hear this story from anyone, it always brings the giggles. $4.99, worth it for the Sesame Street fans and 4-7 year olds. Perfect for Halloween monsters.
Looks and sounds like an old leather book (wish it smelled like one). It contains 5 volumes of the classic Grimm Fairy Tales. You can never have enough fairy tales, they are the perfect way to teach the creative writing process. FREE. All ages.
Only $2.99. This is worth the price and they have many traditional stories available from different professional storytellers. My favorite part of this book is when the student gets to record themselves retelling the story with actions and sound effects. The kids love this app and I love that it improves their pronunciation, builds confidence, helps in retelling, etc. A real winner. All ages.
Yep. That is it. I am such a sucker for the smell of a library book and licking my finger to hurry and turn the page to see what happens next. You can trust that these are worthy of entering the digital world for a memorable read. For rotations or classroom read alouds these are a few of the go to’s. Enjoy! You may have to use them tomorrow to calm the sugary masses of spirited ghouls, goblins, and witches. Happy Halloween! Enjoy the treat of a good book.
